The 2019 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) will be held at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center during August 29-31 and a subsidiary venue will be set up in Binjiang Area of Xuhui District. The main forums to be held on the opening day (August 29) are the main events of the conference. As the conference is drawing nearer, details about the main forums is being revealed.
The 2019 WAIC
On the first day of the 2019 WAIC, there are opening ceremony, main forum (industrial development) and main forum (science frontier). As a high-end, international and professional comprehensive event, the conference will have speakers including domestic and foreign politicians, representatives of international organizations, top scientists (winners of Turing Award and other major awards), and leaders of leading AI companies at home and abroad.
Opening Ceremony: Morning of August 29
The opening ceremony to be held on the morning of August 29 consists of speeches given by government leaders, academic representatives and well-known entrepreneurs, and round-table dialogues, which will focus on the conference theme of “Intelligent Connectivity, Infinite Possibilities”. It will convey China's determination and responsibility to share the opportunities of artificial intelligence development with the world, and build a community of shared future for mankind. In the opening ceremony, there will also be important results release activities.
Main Forums: Afternoon of August 29
In the afternoon, the conference will continue to focus on the theme. From the perspectives of technology trends, application and implementation, industrial ecology, talent cultivation and public governance, at main forum (industry development) and main forum (science frontier) there will be comprehensive and in-depth discussions on the cutting-edge technology in the field of artificial intelligence, key industries and important topics, provoking industry thinking, boosting technology and industrial innovation, and promoting the integration and development of artificial intelligence in the world.
Main Forum (Industry Development)
At main forum (industry development), representatives from Chinese and foreign academic circles and representatives of well-known enterprises will explain the status quo of the industry and the possible impact of technology through keynote speeches and round-table dialogues. Focusing on topics such as industrial ecology, hardware support, platform construction and public governance, they will, with a global vision, discuss how to integrate artificial intelligence into the entire business community, foresee the development trend of artificial intelligence, determine the industry direction, and jointly outline the blueprint for artificial intelligence development.
Main forum (science frontier) will be attended by top scientists and technology leaders in the field of artificial intelligence at home and abroad. Through keynote speeches and high-end dialogues, the forum will focus on and explore the development trends of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies; and the current development and opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence basic research, and the core direction of the future development of artificial intelligence technology will be shared and discussed.
